Do Jessops Offer A Camera Cleaning Service?
Question by jamie R: Do Jessops Offer A Camera Cleaning Service?
I need to get my Canon 40D DSLR cleaned professionally, i don’t feel comfortable doing it myself. Does someone know if Jessops offer a cleaning service?
If not then can someone suggest a good place to get it cleaned.
I live in the UK.

To be honest I wouldn’t trust Jessops to clean my windows!
If you have an independent (proper) dealer in your town take it to them.
In Sheffield we are lucky enough to have these guys.

There must be someone similar near you.
It really isn’t that difficult to do it yourself, though it is a little daunting at first. I use these products and have done for years

Heres a ‘how to’ video

They’re available worldwide.

Q&A: A camera case or bag for a Canon 1000d?
Question by Rina Roy: A camera case or bag for a Canon 1000d?
Can someone suggested to me a good quality camera case/bag that i can buy. I have recently bought my DSLR and need a case/bag that will hold the camera, and a lens or two.
Best answer:
Answer by B.E.I.
The best thing for you to do is take your gear into a local camera shop and try the different bags out. It is not always easy to tell if a bag will work for you just by looking at a picture. I looked at bags online (going by description and measurements), and when I tried them in person I found that they didn’t all hold my gear the way I wanted.
A gear bag is a personal preference, and every one has different needs, likes, and budgets. I have spent from for a Tamrac bag to 0+ for a Pelican bag.

whats the difference between the canon A1 and the canon AT-1?
Question by Nina: whats the difference between the canon A1 and the canon AT-1?
Im wanting to buy an old school camera that i can get colour and black and white images with however with a different feel to the dslr i have. can someone advise on the difference between these two cameras and if i need to buy any accessories to go with them? thanks

Answer by CiaoChao
A-1 hade three auto exposure modes plus manual, the AT-1 is a manual only version of the camera, however does have a built in meter, natually the A-1 is more versatile and desirable, however doesn’t mean the AT-1 isn’t a bad camera.

Ask this question at DPreview.com PLEASE!.. Do not trust the amateur, unqualified idiots on this site with something so delicate and important.
I am being serious, the 1D-5D forum at DPreview.com is where you need to ask this.
——————-
EDIT: Whilst the mirror has nothing to do with image nor the sensor, the mirror is a very delicate instrument, precisely aligned and polished and made to the same fine detail as the mirrors used in astronomy. Various coatings cover it and simply wiping it can easily scratch it.
And whilst it indeed has nothing to do with the image nor sensor, a significantly large smudge or piece of dirt is both distracting in the viewfinder and can affect the Autofocus which works off the focusing screen which in turn works off the mirror.

DSLR camera for beginners – any recommendations?
Question by Helloyou: DSLR camera for beginners – any recommendations?
I am thinking of getting a DSLR camera and have been recommended to get either the Canon EOS 500D or the Olympus Pen E-P1. I am a beginner and the camera will be used mainly for taking snap shots whilst travelling around the world. Any advice or other suggestions? I am happy to spend anything up to £1,200. Cheers

is a DSLR camera a waste of money?
Question by τɾøρïсαṉα●llαṃα: is a DSLR camera a waste of money?
Because i already have a point and shoot canon a650is and i think its rubbishhhh, are DSLR cameras better? Whats the battery life like and what type of batteries do you need
Best answer:
Answer by Caoedhen
Is it worth buying an Escalade over an Escape? They both do the same thing…
Even a low-end, beginner model DSLR is a much better camera than your A650. They use proprietary lithium batteries, and that battery will usually last somewhere on the order of 1,000 shots. Even with heavy flash use, it will last 750.

It is a very good camera however you may want to consider some lower priced alternatives because that camera is a little above entry level in price and specification.
