Question by Stephen H: What size filters does the Canon EOS 400D take?
The Canon UK website doesn’t state what filters fit the Canon EOS 400D (dSLR) in their online tech specs. I’ve done a search and the results vary from 52mm to 67mm.

Yea that’s right. The filters fit on the lens. The lenses come in a variety of sizes from 52mm to 67mm. So decide which lense you need and then buy the filters which fit those lenses.

Which is best, a superzoom camera or a dslr for wildlife photography?

Question by David H: Which is best, a superzoom camera or a dslr for wildlife photography?
I like to take pictures of wildlife with a Fuji s8000 with an 18x zoom. This camera is good however it has a lot of noise. I want to upgrade it however I am not sure whether a picture from a superzoom such as the Canon sx10 fully zoomed would be better than a cropped picture from an entry level dslr with a 300mm lens.

Question by Shaun Rees: What DSLR camera is best for shooting a music show?
I need to get a DSLR camera to shoot a gig. It needs to be around £300, however it needs to be able to take good quality in low light, and have a good ISO, preferably. I would prefer it to be a Canon also. Links would be strongly appreciated.

SONY Alpha DSLR-A290L or Canon EOS 1000D?

Question by James: SONY Alpha DSLR-A290L or Canon EOS 1000D?
Which one is better… I’m swaying towards SONY.. however I’m not sure.

Best answer:

Answer by Jim A
I only recommend what I own and therefore know. I have a 1000D and it’s an excellent camera.
I’ve had this camera for well over a year and I’m getting excellent results.

Sony entered the consumer market a relatively short time ago and they’re gear isn’t tested over time.
Besides that Canon and Nikon are chosen by pros all over the world for many good reasons.

I rest my case.

Is the Canon 5D Mark 2 worth upgrading to?

Question by DAVID: Is the Canon 5D Mark 2 worth upgrading to?
I presently own a rather dated Canon 10D. I want to update – I could go for the Canon D50 – however I reallised that the latest trend – a full frame DSLR like the Canon 5D Mark 2 might be the best long term buy, especially with its live view advantage. Any thoughts anybody? David

Answer by Edwin
David if you have completely outgrown the 10D then buy the 5D Mark II. It uses the Canon EF mount lenses so any EF mount lenses you own will be fully compatible. If you have any EF-S mount lenses then you may as well plan on selling them since they are NOT compatible with the 5D.

***** EDIT *****

Calling me “silly” is ridiculous. Re-read my answer and try to comprehend the part where I said “If you have any EF-S mount lenses …” with emphasis on “IF”. Its quite possible that David has acquired an EF-S mount lens or two so I simply reminded him that they aren’t compatible with the 5D.

***** EDIT 2 *****

I mis-read the wikipedia entry for the 10D however now know its so old that it pre-dates the EF-S lenses and couldn’t accept them.
