Best macro lens for an DSLR Canon 300D?
Question by Bruce: Best macro lens for an DSLR Canon 300D?

Answer by sie ge
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM around £400.00 or 0.00.
This is one of my favourite lenses and I’m posting links to my images below. Click on them and view the images large.
It is a wide aperture and gives the most beautiful bokeh (Blur).
The macro feature has 1x magnification which means perfect Dof throughout. I also use it for portrait shots.
It is worth it’s weight in gold.
Even when you upgrade from the 300D you will keep this lens.

Image Viewer for Canon D40 DSLR?
Question by Helen H: Image Viewer for Canon D40 DSLR?
Does someone know of a fullscreen image viewer for my Canon 40D. I can remove the CF card, then view the images full-size on that or download them doing the same, however I would like to be able to do this with the card still in place, so as to show or delete the bad ones. The available Canon utilities just allow for thumbnail selective images prior to transferring to PC, however they won’t show the fullsize images with the card still in the camera. Many thanks

Faststone (free), ACDSee (not free), are two that will work.
As long as your camera shows up on the computer as an accessible external drive, anything will show the pics, including Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

Q&A: Canon EOS 300D with 18-55 EF Lens. Is it a good DSLR, and is it worth £150 second hand?
Question by Swampy_Bogtrotter: Canon EOS 300D with 18-55 EF Lens. Is it a good DSLR, and is it worth £150 second hand?
I’m wanting to upgrade from a Fuji S5600 prosumer model.
I’ve been looking at Fuji S9600′s and was going to buy a new one, as most DSLR’s are beyond my price range.
But if I can get this one for around £150, would I be bettr going for it instead of the S9600?
Best answer:
Answer by fivetoze
yes the eos is a good camera, however its not so good at that price with only one lens.
the 9600 is one lens, and its 28 – 300… all in all the 9600 is a better all round camera, and it does video…
i looked at the 9600 and all its competitors, however being an olympus person,i picked an e500… and they take photographs, nothing else… however oh boy can you see the difference. whilst the 5600 is only 5mp the 9600 is 8mp, with the bells and whistles…
research what you want and wait until the sales.. and save 100 quid. and dont forget the people who have rich santas, whove upgraded and want to sell their old (a yr maybe) kit.
keep looking… and good luck

Canon DSLR Batteries?
Question by Sy K: Canon DSLR Batteries?
I was wondering oif someone could tell me how long or how many photo’s i could take on one battery uising a 550D … or maybe a 500D, say a sort of average
How long do they take to fully charge, whats the charging method, & any extra’s you could think of
I’m planning to pick mine up tomorrow & i just wanna be able to make sure i can use it as soon as possible, luckily i live right next to the coats so it’ll be sea shots, yatchs & other bizzare things i can find
If someone wants to direct me to any websites as well i would be grateful, i’m, always one to try new things
Cheers People

Answer by John Arkell
i don’t know much about how long they take to charge, however i believe it would be a good idea for you to get two batteries if you can. batteries operate well at room temperature, however they tend to stop working in low temperatures especially in the winter months. If you buy two, you can keep one in the pocket of your jeans. when the first one dies, replace it with the one that would be kept warm in your pocket. After the second battery dies, replace it again with the other one, which should have warmed back up again. you might find this advice in your instruction manual if your unsure

DSLR Canon 300d or Nikon d40?
Question by –SF–: DSLR Canon 300d or Nikon d40?
On Amazon i have found both of these cameras to be around £250 and am wondering which one is best to get.
The Canon comes with 18-55mm lense and 75-300mm lens and two 512mb CF cards whereas the nikon only comes with the 18-55 lense.
Which deal should i get?

Answer by ChaoRingmeister
I have the 300D, its the best of the 6megapixel entry level cameras. For £250 you are getting a good deal. However neither the EF18-55mm f3.5-5.6 (either mark I or II) or the 75-300mm (I’m expecting its the f4-5.6 III) is particularly good glass. The standard 300D is a bit limited in functions, and I run it with custom firmware which opens out more abilities.
I would recommend getting the 300D with the 18-55mm since it’s a handy lens as long as you stop down a bit, and a EF 35-105mm f3.5-4.5 (its a push-pull type lens for 35mm however optically superb and has a metal mount) which crops to an equivalent of 56-168mm on an APS-C sensor. Also you may want to pick up a EF 50mm f1.8 II.
The Nikon also is a reasonably capable camera, however lacks some of the functions of the more advanced Nikons. It also lacks an AF motor which means you need the expensive AFS lenses. As to firmware upgrades, I’m unaware of what’s available.

Q&A: Nikon or Canon DSLR camera.?
Question by Princess: Nikon or Canon DSLR camera.?
I am looking into buying a really good SLR camera for under £500, however I am an absolute Novice, so I don’t really know anything about them, or which ones are best. Could someone with experience of these camera’s please get in touch and give me much needed advice. Cheers

Well unless you have specific wishes ANY one will do.
Indeed any basic DSLR will easily outperform whatever you expected from it. It is only when you get specific like “I shoot sport” or “I shoot landscapes” that you have to take a good look.

How can I make shutter( in Canon DSLR) to make picture quickly?
Question by Kasia: How can I make shutter( in Canon DSLR) to make picture quickly?
I have a problem with my Canon 450 D because when I`m using any of the advanced modes like P or M ( manual) mode, whatever settings (like f-stop) I will put, it still takes around 1 min to take a picture. But when I change to life view it takes pictures normally.
Is there something wrong with the camera or is it just settings?
I`m just starting AS level photography and that`s why I need to know how to use my camera ![]()
That you very much for your help

Answer by fhotoace
This is an operator problem.
Actually the P (program mode) is not an advanced mode. It is really a way to make a fine fully adjustable camera into a fancy P&S camera.
The length of time it takes to expose an image has to do with the amount of light shining on the scene, not the mode you are shooting in. To get shorter shutter speeds, you can increase the ISO or add more light to the scene
If you are using the manual mode, the light meter in the viewfinder will tell you what shutter speed you need to use under the lighting conditions.
You haven’t ever taken a class in photography, have you
