I’m not exactly sure what cameras cost in the UK, however my guess is that that budget won’t buy you much more than the 1000D. Not that that’s a bad thing as it’s a great beginner SLR.

How do a clean the sensor inside my Canon 20D DSLR camera?
Question by clairel: How do a clean the sensor inside my Canon 20D DSLR camera?
I do not have a user booklet. The photos have small gray spots on them, which are caused by dirt on the sensor I think. I am not an expert, and I really don’t know how to clean them off. And no user guide to help me! Many thanks to someone who replies

There are products you can buy from camera shops, and on the internet. They can be used, if care is taken.
Be very careful, though. NEVER use something like cotton buds or tissues for this job, or even lens tissue/clothes or you will damage the sensor.
Oh, and there should be a mirror lock-up function available from your cameras menu system. You might need to look on the Canon web site for a manual, if you can’t find how to do this by searching your menus.
ALSO it’s very important that you do this with a fully charged battery and don’t turn off the power or remove the battery while you are cleaning the sensor.

Can I use a verrry old Chinon SLR lens on a Canon DSLR?

My grandads Chinon is older than me so bear that in mind.

Answer by Caoedhen
In theory, probably. In real life, no.
It would depend on the original lens mount of the Chinon. It is certainly a manual lens, and may or may not even be a good lens.
The Canon EF mount is the most “adaptable” of the current major brands due to it’s large diameter. If you look, you can find an adapter for just about anything to fit Canon EF. This is also why there are no adapters for Nikon, with their small lens mount. Of course Nikon didn’t abandon the folks who owned a large amount of manual gear, like Canon did when they switched to the EF mount from the FD mount. But that’s a different subject…
Anyway, yes, the lens can probably be made to mount onto your Canon. Will it be worth the effort? Almost assuredly not.

Not immediately. You will need to find an adapter for these lenses. Fortunately the Canon EF mount means that you can mount them without much affect on the optics of it. You must bear in mind that any automatic aperture control. But if you’re studying photography then you’ll be fine.
